I have thoughts and talk about them sometimes.

Be of service. You are taking your degree into a society dominated by concentrated poverty and a vulnerable middle class, a society where it is harder to pay for education, harder to find a job, harder to buy a house and harder to hold onto those things even if you manage to get them. You are entering adulthood during a period of mass incarceration and near constant war. There is a lot for you to do. Service is the rent you pay for the space you take up on the earth, and as a relatively privileged American you take up a lot of space. We are the most consuming, polluting, wasteful nation on earth. So your rent is steep. Pay it with service.

Neat moment at the Webbys last night. Fresh off the $1.1 billion sale of his company, David Karp was there with his mother, Barbara. Though I’d never met her before, Barbara came over to my seat and gave me the world’s biggest hug. She kept saying: “I am so, so proud of you.”I said to David: “Your mom just made me feel like the most special guy in the world.”He said: “That’s how she’s made me feel my whole life.”

Putting it on my parenting list.

I love the neon colors of this blanket from Wool n Hook.

This hurts my eyes in the best way possible.

Whoa, you can do this on other people’s posts too! If you hover over the picture, a little i comes up in the lower left corner, if you click it, it tells you about that camera… so cool!

I think I’m going to stay irritated that the future doesn’t have flying cars, or at least jetpacks, but this is super cool to me.

I was looking at this post again (hush) and found out that if I clicked on the picture twice I got this!  What!?  How does this work?! How did you know?!

A few months ago, two different people told me, in a nice-ish way, that I’m a very reactive person and maybe I should work on this.

I did a mental scroll of issues I’ve had with people in the past decade and realized that—in almost every case—my hot-headedness played a role. (Sorry, all my ex-boyfriends!)

It seems obvious now, but I’d never noticed that, hey, I do have intense reactions to things. (Like rude emails or Sheryl Sandberg’s TedTalk.) And I never thought I could do anything about it.

And this is all a prelude to explain how I discovered a series of articles by a California-based therapist named Lorraine Watson after a google search. Her theory is that being reactive is simply a state of not dealing with emotions (usually anger) in the most skillful way.

I always love how sad she looks when she’s tired.  As if she’s too far gone to eat pizza or something.

WOAH DAMN. I’m jealous! You’re great! You look amazing!!

Thanks, man! I love it so much that I changed my tumblr avatar AND my Facebook profile picture (mostly because everyone on Facebook is pregnant and I’m all ripped and spectacular because you can’t see my acne in that picture).  I don’t have a tremendous amount of self-esteem when it comes to my appearance, but I love muscles.  LOVE them.  They make me feel awesome.
